This is the first expansion in the EX Series -released in June 2003, the set is the first to feature Generation III Pokemon and Pokemon-EX in the card game. Pokemon-ex are a significantly stronger Pokemon type which when knocked out allows the opponent to take two Prize cards instead of one, the cards themselves have Holofoil borders. This was the first set to be produced by Nintendo and contains 109 cards; the cards were updated to a newer design with the border on the left going back to normal while the bottom border retained a bigger space for the Dot-Code strip.
Cards to look out for in this set included Mewtwo ex #101, Scyther ex #102, and Lapras ex #99.
