The Neo Series brought in Generation II Pokemon, with 111 cards Neo Genesis is the first Neo Series Set, it was released in December 2000. The set is based on Pokemon Gold & Silver and introduced Darkness and Metal Type Pokemon. Neo Genesis introduced the Pokemon tool, which was a subclass of Trainer cards that can be permanently attached to Pokemon when in play. The set introduced new designs to the cards which changed the evolution box to a circular design and the HP text was made black instead of red.
